Future Projects

Bridge Over Preston Lane, Upper Saucon Township
Clearing work has begun on the railbed in the area of the Preston Lane gap. The nature of the work includes removing the berms at the Saucon Rail Trail / Upper Saucon Township Community Park trail intersections, brush removal along the unused railbed, and drilling test borings along the railbed. All of this work is in preparation for the potential bridge over Preston Lane.

Upper Bucks Rail Trail
Construction on the Upper Bucks Rail Trail, the extension of the Saucon Rail Trail, has begun! Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of Summer 2020. Development of the Upper Bucks Rail Trail in Springfield and Richland Townships will complete about 3 miles of the Highlands Trail project, and will connect to the Saucon Rail Trail to the north and existing trails and sidewalk to the south toward Quakertown.
